All across the world, animal shelters are overcrowded. Foster homes are limited and volunteers stretched thin. There are far more animals needing help than there are resources available. That is why seeing a community institution make room for something joyful matters!
It also raises a bigger question about how we think about animal rescue in general. Is our responsibility simply to keep the animals alive until someone adopts them? Or should we also be thinking about their quality of life along the way?
For me, the answer seems pretty obvious.
These kittens may not understand what an aquarium is, why there are fish behind the glass, or why hoomans are surrounding them filming their reactions. They just know that, for one weird and wonderful afternoon, their world got a whole lot bigger (and probably wetter).
A little adventure is exactly what life calls for sometimes. I hope this viral video helps these kittens find homes as quickly as pawssible. And, hopefully, inspires someone like you to go out and adopt a kitten of your own. Take them to the aquarium, because, why not?
